And they call the thing a RODEO!

This weekend was a total blast! And because of that, I am STILL recovering!

After work on Friday, I ate dinner with Megan and Carolyn at Cyclone Anaya's - YUM! Then the three of us caught the light rail down to the rodeo cook-off where we were meeting Caitlin and Alli.

The light rail actually turned out to be a GREAT way to travel, it only took 10-15 minutes and it costs like $2 as opposed to the amount you would pay for parking or for taking a cab.

Because of my awesome job, which really sometimes has the best perks in the world, we all got wristbands to get into the KILT (100.3 country radio station) tent where they were having a live band. It was really a blast and although we had a minor high school reunion, everyone that I talked to I was really glad to see!

Saturday morning Caitlin, Alli and I had to be at Reliant Center for our first official day on the Livestock Committee of the rodeo. We had to go down all of the stalls in the "barn" as they call it, cutting off all the old zip ties and tags. Then we had to go down and put new tags and zip ties on the stalls. The unfortunate part about this experience is that the lady who was in charge of our section (there were about 10 of us) was a bit of a nut job. She had no idea what she was telling us and this, consequently, created probably 4 times as much work for all of us. But we persevered and made it through!

We left Reliant to go grab some food, change, then got went right back down to the cook-off for our second night of fun! The best way to describe the cook-off is that it is like an adult version of Chilifest and for the most part very much more in control. They had a giant stage where there were bands playing and this time, we had wristbands to the Cox Radio tent (they own 93Q Country, Hot 95.7, and a couple other stations I can't think of off the top of my head). This tent was a blast! The band they had would go in between playing songs from Gaga or Ke$ha and Get Low, to country music. We ended the night by listening to Casey Donahew playing at the main stage. All in all, it was a total blast and something I plan on making a tradition for the upcoming years, but man, am I exhausted still two days later!
